The main objective for the establishment of this Institute is to provide participants with a broader outlook, intellectual depth and capacity to deal efficiently and effectively with security challenges in the ever-complex and changing security environment. The Institute equips security personnel within Nigeria and the neighbouring West African States, with deep analytical insight into the development and utilization of available resources towards effective management of these complex security challenges in a democratic dispensation. Importantly also, the NISS is designed to provide senior cadre manpower, the required operational and administrative capacity to identify and analyse security threats with a view to proffering implementable strategies to either prevent the threat or mitigate their impact.
